Sending doesn't need an account. You can pick a card and send it as a guest, exactly as before — signing in changes nothing about how sending works.
Signing in adds one thing: My Cards. It gathers every ecard sent from your address into one page — what you sent, when, who you sent it to, and whether each person has opened it yet. As a guest, once the confirmation is gone there's no way back to a card you've sent.
Cards you sent before today count too. Your history covers the last 90 days, including cards sent long before you signed in — there's nothing to set up first.
